Salem's baptismal font is at the center in the front of the sanctuary. The bowl at the top holds water for the Sacrament of Baptism.
We invite the family, friends, and sponsors forward for the Sacrament of Baptism. At Salem we invite the children of the congregation forward for a close-in view and the pastors speak frequently just to them.
The sponsor holds the infant over the water while the pastor baptises the new child of God in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
The newly baptised Christians are introduced to the congregation and infants are carried into the midst of the gathering for a close-by introduction.
