| The Evangelism and Outreach Ministry supports the social ministries and global missions of Salem. This is a rather broad statement put into action at Salem Lutheran Church and School by involvement in a myriad of individual programs locally and globally. We use Matthew 25 as our directive, seeking to minister to the hungry, needy and dispossessed. We also seek to educate and equip others for self-sufficiency and ministry on local and global levels. We literally set our hearts, hands, minds, and feet to work to actively show our commitment to the gospel of Christ in acts of service for others. In our ever changing world and community, our evangelistic and outreach efforts are being done more and more through ecumenical means, which will hopefully confirm our own faith while making us aware of and sensitive to other beliefs and expressions of faith. We also hope to become more visible in the Glendale community through our work in and for the local area. We are always in need of volunteers who have a servant heart. If you are a "hands-on", "people person" who enjoys meeting with and serving among others from all walks of faith, the Evangelism and Outreach Committee would be delighted to have you join us. We usually meet on the third Thursday of each month at 4:00 P.M. in the Fireside Room. Following are the programs we currently support and participate in: Glendale Homeless Coalition/Cold Weather Shelter We also support yearly special offerings through World Hunger (Thanksgiving time), annual church-wide ELCA offering (Pentecost) and through various local community outreach programs such as music concerts for Food for Body & Soul, etc. |
