The men of Salem kicked off the beginnings of a new Men's Fellowship Group on January 15 and they set the time for their first regular "gathering" for 7:00 AM on the fourth Monday of each month. Come and attend at Shaker's Restaurant (801 N Central Ave in Glendale). We'll eat breakfast, have a Bible study, and talk about our future. We will be finished by 8:30 am at the latest.

Here are some tentative decisions that the organizing meeting determined.

We want an inclusive group of men, from about eighteen years and up. You do not have to be a "formal" member of Salem's congregation to be a member with us. We expect to be re-defining ourselves as we continue, but at this point we see ourselves as a loosely-knit group with an interest in
fellowship (getting together to enjoy friends),
service (finding projects or activities where we can help others who can use a hand), and
spiritual growth (developing confidence and depth in our relationship with God and with others).

WWJD could be a guide for us: that is What would Jesus do? We have thought about having a "mission statement" and hammered out a preliminary string of ideas:   "The mission of the Salem Lutheran Church Men’s group is to provide men of the congregation fellowship, spiritual growth and service opportunities while growing interpersonal relationships to benefit each other" -- but we will talk about this in future gatherings.

So as you can see, we are in the preliminary stages -- just getting to know each other and trying to figure out who and what we are going to be. Join us as we start to learn each other in a new setting -- men being men, friends, helpers, guides, and servants of the Lord. You may just show up for the breakfast gathering with your Bible and a few bucks for eating -- or better yet, let us know that you plan to come so that we can reserve enough chairs and placemats. Contact the church office or email Steve Seekins, or Scott Hewitt, or Pastor Glen (all are just a click away on the contact page).
