WOMEN OF SALEM
(We have changed!)

During the early seventies the first woman was elected to the Salem Church Council.

Since then women are:

  • Ordained as pastors
  • Officers of the Congregation, including President
  • Stewards of the Church Council
  • Lectors and communion assistants
  • Church ushers and money counters
  • ETC.ETC.ETC.

Most important of all women support each other in warm friendships and Christian fellowship as they try to live out God’s will as a servant church.

We are currently doing:

  • Salem Women/Friends Events – Inspirational brunches or luncheons
  • Monthly inspirational gatherings
  • "Circles" for Bible study, fellowship, friendship, support, nurturing
  • Projects – Quilts, sewing, health, and school kits for those in need
  • Fund Raisers – Rummage Sales, Bake Sales, Special offerings, restaurant events
  • Benevolences – Support 3 children each month and 15 causes each year
  • Women’s Synod and Church wide events - Conventions, retreats, gatherings

God made each of us unique with unique gifts. We are evolving into the 21st century and are open to suggestions and comments.

We want to be more:

  • Flexible
  • Responsive
  • Inclusive

Come walk with us! We encourage your comments and suggestions.
