| I was born into a Lutheran family. Both of my parents were educators, and I always admired their genuine commitment to the church and to the students they taught. Following in their footsteps, I taught children at various grade levels from kindergarten to sixth grade, and now I enjoy even more the beauty of education as I serve as the principal of Salem Lutheran School and support the ministry of Salem Lutheran Church.
I received my undergraduate degree in Liberal Studies and masters degree in Educational Administration at California State University, Northridge. I am currently an associate and an active member of Association for Supervision & Curriculum Development.
My husband and I have been living at our Sun Valley home for 25 years. Our daughter, who is also a teacher, lives with her husband, William, in Las Vegas. Our son, Sam, also lives with his wife, Samar, in Las Vegas. Sam and William are active members of the U.S. Air Force. We are blessed with two beautiful granddaughters, Amanda and Lauren.

| Diane Haig moved to California in 1964 from Oshkosh, WI. I graduated from Madison Business College and moved with a friend to Hollywood. I worked 14 years for a group of OB-GYN doctors in Los Angeles. My husband, Dennis, is an advertising copywriter. We have two grown sons - Andrew and Erik. Both our sons graduated from Salem Lutheran School. Andrew is a Chiropractor and his wife, Nancy, a third grade teacher. They live in Union City, CA (near Oakland). They just made us proud grandparents - Noah Andrew was born on April 19 and what a precious gift he is to us all! Erik lives at home while he continues his studies at UCLA in Architect/Interior Design. He works in his chosen field four days a week.
I have worked at Salem as Coordinator of Parish Ministries for almost ten years. I love Parish Ministry for its variety and for all the people I connect with daily. It is a joy to visit and share Communion with the homebound. Salem along with four other Lutheran Churches formed Lutheran Health Ministries of the Foothills, Inc. and have had a Parish Nurse for over two years. What a blessing for each congregation! How wonderful to have shared ministry and fellowship with the other Lutheran congregations!
Salem has been home to our family for 25 years. I enjoy music (have sung in the choir 25 years), movies, theatre, reading, and walking. It is a blessing to serve and share in a Christian community.

| Matt Braaten was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and grew up in the small (but grand) Minnesota towns of Nerstrand and Barrett. While in high school Matt served as the LYO (Lutheran Youth Organization) president and on the national LYO nominating committee. He was very active in several rural Lutheran churches. Matt graduated from St. Olaf College, located in Northfield, Minnesota, where he earned a degree in English and Theatre Arts. While at St. Olaf, Matt sang in choir all four of his years there and worshipped at the campus chapel.
Following his college graduation, Matt spent two years in Japan as an English teacher. He spent his vacation time as a world traveler visiting places like Hong Kong, Australia, Thailand and New Zealand; he later ventured to the UK and Europe. Matt has been living in the Los Angeles area since 2000 having first served as a youth director and coordinator of outreach in Long Beach until coming to Salem in August of 2005. Matt loves music, dramatic arts and playing various sports with the youth. His wife Mary Ellen is an ESL instructor and former second grade teacher. She hales from the great state of Wisconsin.
