Sr. High

Our mission, which is modeled after Jesus’ words in Matthew 22, is to connect students to God and to each other.

In this passage, a man comes to Jesus and asks Him, “Which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus responds that the greatest is:

 1. To love the Lord with all your heart and soul and mind

 2. To love your neighbor as yourself

For us, we’re not content to simply provide activities for students. We at Salem desire that the activities, worship services and community service we do bring about real transformation in the lives of the students involved. Our hope is that each activity and event will ultimately help students develop a stronger connection with God and with others.

Sunday Morning Youth Ministry - "Join the Journey"

Join caring faithful adults each Sunday in the Youth Room for in depth Bible study and meaningful discussion about issues of the day that connect your life with others and the power of Jesus.

Youth Band - Between Colors

The youth band consists of Salem church youth and former Salem School students grade seven and higher. The band leads worship music in several services a year as well as records music. Current and former members write and assist in writing original music for the band. The band has lead music in numerous youth retreats and events in the area. Influences range from classic rock to folk to indie to blues. The various musical tastes of the band members are represented in our music. Rehearsals are generally 3:00PM on Sundays but check the calendar for more details or contact Matt Braaten.

Special Events

In August 2007 we took a ten day trip to Minnesota and canoed in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA) which divides Canada and Minnesota. It was an amazing trip. During the summer of 2008 we attended the National Youth Gathering in New Orleans and had another spirit filled time serving in the lower 9th Ward as well as enjoying the food and sites of The Big Easy.

The teens of Salem meet monthly for movies, bowling, service projects, retreats and other events that come our way.

We have our annual “Youth Sunday” worship service every April, usually around Earth Day. On this Sunday the teens and younger youth lead the music, greeting, readings, message and more. The group usually ends the service with a surprise sing-a-long: last year was Bon Jovi! Please check out the calendar and see what else is coming up.
